Ideas & Inspiration for Vehicles, Logistics & Transport

Cars, trucks, planes…. they’re a ton of fun to work with creatively. There’s all the movement, drama and potential for good storytelling that you could ask for. If you’re making a transport-themed video and you need some creative inspiration then you’ve come to the right place. Below we show examples of explainer videos that were made for the logistics industry or that have transported-related visuals.

It’s kinda like GPS

In the below video we use a futuristic motorbike, cars and traffic to tell the client’s story. The product is a software system for sales teams and we use a transport analogy to make it relatable to the viewer, showing how our client’s software is similar to GPS in the way it helps people know what to do next.

Taxis for Pets

If you prefer a style with friendly character illustrations then check out the below. These 2D character illustrations were made to move using frame-by-frame animation in some portions in order to add personality to the character movements.

Distribution Centers

In the below video we use 3D modeling to show a distribution center but we keep the styling to a flat 2d-eque look. Using some 3D is a good option for logistics explainer videos because 3D modeling lends itself very naturally to physical spaces like warehouses or physical objects like, well, vehicles. In the video we used cool transitions, like match cuts, to make the video flow and make contents of the video more engaging.

Future Vibes

Here’s a style with neon colors, cars, traffic and a cityscape.

This time with footage

Animation is not your only option when it comes to making an explainer video. Below we’ve combined stock footage with animation. It’s easy to find good transport-related stock footage but as ever the key is to select it carefully and use the stock sparingly.

Sports Cars & Software Screens

The next video was for a client in financial services. We use 2D and 3D animation to bring a car-themed analogy to life.

Planes & Ships in 3D

As part of your research into different styles, you should consider a 3D style. In the below video we show various forms of transport in 3D, for this tech product.

Maps

Map visuals will feature regularly in logistics-related explainer videos. Below is an example treatment for maps with pins to indicate logistics hubs.

Production Considerations

When making explainer videos for logistics or transport companies there are a few considerations. From a scripting viewpoint the challenge remains the same, i.e. communicating the value offering in a clear and interesting way. But visually, there are some things to resolve, especially if your audience spans multiple countries:

  • what side of the road must your vehicles drive? One cool hack to fix footage that’s on the ‘wrong’ side of the road is simply to invert the footage
  • what shape should the nose of your long-haul trucks have? Trucks in the US look different to European trucks
  • are road signs visible? It’s safest to remove footage with road signs if your audience spans different countries
  • are there other nuances? e.g. roads in the UK have plenty of roundabouts.

By thinking of the above factors you can save time in the production and ultimately create a more effective video. If you’d like to see more styles and examples see here.
